What curriculum can an ESA+ account buy for a Triangle student?
ESA+ can buy complete, ready-to-teach programs for English, math, science, social studies or a foreign language. Core-subject curriculum counts toward the $500 rule; foreign language curriculum is allowed but does not.
Bought as products through the ClassWallet Marketplace.
Only when a listed school requires it and bills it as a fee.
What are the ESA+ rules for curriculum?
- Kits must arrive ready to use; buying separate pieces to build your own kit is not allowed.
- Toys and games count only if they include lessons or a teacher guide, or their main purpose is educational.
- Audiobooks must come from the ClassWallet Marketplace, and subscriptions and reimbursements are not allowed for them.
- Music, art and PE curricula are not allowed.
Allowed and not allowed
| ESA+ can pay for | ESA+ cannot pay for |
|---|---|
| Boxed math, science, ELA and social studies programs | Art, music and PE curricula |
| Foreign language programs (not counted toward $500) | Do-it-yourself kits assembled from parts |
How does curriculum work for a Triangle family?
Home-school families in Wake Forest, Apex or Hillsborough often buy a full-year core curriculum early in the fall, which also meets the $500 requirement in one order.
