International Montessori School (Durham, NC): Scholarship Status & Funding

About this data. School facts come from the NCES Private School Survey (2023-24, plus 2021-22 rows for schools that skipped the latest round). The Direct Payment flag comes from matching names, by county and with code, against the NCSEAA Direct Payment Schools table for 2026-27, downloaded October 30, 2026. Schools found only on the state list show a name and town and nothing else. Neither source reports tuition, so ask the school.

Does International Montessori School take the NC Opportunity Scholarship?

Yes. International Montessori School matched a listing on NCSEAA's 2026-27 Direct Payment table, so the Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ can both be paid to it. A student here can receive up to $7,942 at Tier 1, $7,148 at Tier 2, $4,766 at Tier 3 or $3,574 at Tier 4, but never more than the school's required tuition and fees. Pre-K years fall outside the scholarship, which starts at kindergarten.

The school year is 179 days long. Reported memberships: American Montessori Society; National Independent Private Schools Association.

How do families pay for International Montessori School?

International Montessori School lists no religious tie. Aid at an independent school comes out of the school's own budget, and many schools work it out after subtracting any state award.

Is pre-K at International Montessori School free?

Durham PreK and NC Pre-K both operate in Durham County; ask the director whether a room here is a participating site. Child care subsidy can also help working families pay a participating preschool.

What the Direct Payment flag means

A ✓ on the Direct Payment column tells you	It does not tell you
NCSEAA can send Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ money to this school for 2026-27	That a seat is open or that your child will be admitted
The award goes to required tuition and fees, up to your tier amount	That the award will cover the full bill
The school accepted NCSEAA's testing and audit rules for scholarship students	Whether the school is accredited, which the state table does not show
